4th ID CAB Vehicle Bridge and Roads
Client: USACE, Omaha District
Location: Fort Carson, Colorado
Contract Value:  $17.3M

The 4th Infantry Division Combat Aviation Brigade (ID CAB) Vehicle Bridge and Road project involved the construction of a new four-lane vehicular bridge leading into Fort Carson in Colorado. In addition to construction of the bridge, the project included:

  • Rerouting of an existing road, two tank trails and an adjacent ditch
  • New connector road
  • Permanent wetland mitigation
  • Electric service, street lighting, water, sewer, gas
  • Curbs and gutters
  • Walkway paving
  • Storm drainage
  • Site work
  • Exterior information systems
  • Traffic signage

All roadways and tank trails remained open during construction. The team is constructing a roundabout and road extension as a scope modification.

Special Operations Forces Language Training Facility
Client: USACE, Omaha District
Location: Fort Carson, Colorado
Contract Value: $9M

The 10th Special Forces Language Training Facility, PN 47942, project involves the design and construction of a new 18,500 SF Special Operations Forces (SOF) training facility at Fort Carson, Colorado. The building is made of traditional light gauge framing, standing seam metal roof (SSMR) and a masonry exterior. It is being built similar to higher education classroom facilities in the private sector and includes:

  • Administrative offices
  • Classrooms
  • Reference library
  • Resource center
  • Language proficiency testing spaces
  • Multipurpose room
  • Associated support spaces

Medvolt’s team also is responsible for site development and utility work. The facility is being constructed to U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (USGBC LEED) Silver standards and meets anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP) design and construction requirements and air barrier design and testing requirements.


47th BCT Power and Communications Infrastructure
Client:  USACE, Omaha District
Location: Fort Carson, Colorado
Contract Value:  $3M

The 47th Brigade Combat Team (BCT) Power and Communications Infrastructure project involved the design-build design, construction and installation of a substation and communications node at Fort Carson, Colorado. The Medvolt team moved all of the electrical lines from overhead to underground. The team used a custom-made switchgear and 34.5 KV line tied to the main city grid to refeed circuits #10, #13 and #14 on the installation and Evans Army Community Hospital. The project also involved:

  • Three miles of circuit (Circuit 11) out of the new substation, including all communications lines, primary vaults, switchgears and transformers
  • Evans Army Community Hospital re-fed out of a new substation through Circuit #14
  • Street light poles
  • All communications pathway conduit
  • All concrete duct bank
  • All conduit piping for the primary MC350 cable and cable installation
